Pale Pressed Castor Oil (PPCO)

Manufactured by Nova Industries

Nova Industries manufactures Pale Pressed Castor Oil (PPCO), a high-purity industrial grade produced exclusively from the first mechanical pressing of castor seeds.

Unlike Commercial Grade oil, which may include solvent-extracted fractions, PPCO is characterized by its superior clarity, lighter color, and lower acidity.1 It is meticulously filtered to remove all suspended matter, making it the preferred grade for applications requiring high dielectric strength and chemical stability.

1. Technical Characteristics

Pale Pressed Castor Oil is defined by its method of extraction and subsequent purification.

  • First Press Origin: Obtained solely via hydraulic or screw pressing. This ensures the oil retains its natural molecular structure without thermal degradation or solvent contamination.
  • High Dielectric Constant: Due to its unique polarity, PPCO has excellent electrical insulating properties, making it a critical fluid in the electronics sector.
  • Low Acidity: With an Acid Value controlled below 1.5, it offers better stability and less corrosivity in metal-contact applications compared to standard industrial grades.

2. Industrial & Specialized Applications

Electrical & Electronics (Dielectrics)

  • Capacitor Impregnate: PPCO is used as a dielectric fluid in the impregnation of paper/foil capacitors and high-voltage condensers.2 Its high specific heat and breakdown voltage prevent electrical arcing.
  • Sonar Transducers: Used as a sound-transmitting coupling fluid in sonar domes and transducers due to its density matching closely with seawater.

Polymers & Coatings

  • Polyurethane Casting Resins: Serves as the polyol backbone for PU casting resins. Its purity ensures bubble-free curing and consistent shore hardness.
  • Surface Coatings: Used in high-quality alkyd paints and varnishes where yellowing must be minimized (Gardner Color < 2).

Oil Field & Petroleum

  • Demulsifiers: Acts as a key ingredient in oil-field demulsification formulations, helping to separate water from crude oil emulsions.

Pharmaceutical & Personal Care

  • Tablet Lubricant: Used as a mold release agent and lubricant in the coating of vitamin and mineral tablets.3
  • Excipient: With appropriate certification, it serves as a vehicle in cosmetic formulations requiring a lighter color than standard castor oil.4

3. Technical Specifications (TDS)

Nova Industries guarantees strict adherence to the physical and chemical parameters required for high-end industrial use.
