First Pressed Degummed Castor Oil
Manufactured by Nova Industries
Nova Industries manufactures First Pressed Degummed Castor Oil, a specialized grade designed primarily for the high-performance lubricant and engineering sectors.
While standard castor oil contains natural plant gums (phospholipids) and colloidal impurities, these substances can cause sludge formation and carbon deposits under high-temperature conditions.1 Our Degummed Grade is produced by subjecting the First Press crude oil to a precise hydration and centrifugation process. This removes the gummy plant polymeric substances, ensuring a clean-burning oil with superior texture and stability.2
1. Technical Advantage: The Degumming Process
The primary differentiator of this grade is the removal of Phosphatides (Gums).
- The Problem with Gums: In standard oil, gums can precipitate out during storage or carbonize rapidly in combustion engines, leading to “sticky rings” and engine fouling.
- The Nova Solution: By treating the oil with water and weak acids (Phosphoric/Citric), we hydrate these gums, making them insoluble. They are then separated via high-speed centrifugation.
- Result: A “Brilliant Clear” oil that retains the exceptional lubricity of ricinoleic acid but without the heavy carbon buildup associated with crude castor oil.
2. Industrial Applications
High-Performance Lubricants (Racing & Aviation)
- 2-Stroke & 4-Stroke Engines: This grade is the feedstock of choice for blending castor-based racing oils (Go-Karts, Speedway motorcycles, and Model Aircraft engines). The degumming prevents varnish deposits on pistons.
- Clean Combustion: It offers the legendary film strength of castor oil while burning significantly cleaner than raw crude oil.
Industrial Lubrication
- Gear Oils: Used in worm gear lubricants where high viscosity and low friction coefficients are required.
- Chain Lubricants: Its high tackiness (polarity) ensures it clings to moving parts without slinging off, even at high temperatures.
Hydraulic Fluids
- Used as a base for biodegradable hydraulic fluids in forestry and agricultural machinery.
3. Technical Specifications (TDS)
Nova Industries ensures that the degumming efficiency meets strict industrial standards.3
